Rapper Cardi B has scored a legal win after a US judge dismissed the copyright infringement lawsuit filed against her over her track Enough (Miami). According to Rolling Stone, U.S. District Judge Fernando Rodriguez recently passed a final judgment in Cardi B’s favour and dismissed the $50 million lawsuit without prejudice. The court reportedly ruled that there had been no infringement of any music.

Reacting to the decision, Cardi B’s attorney (as reported by Rolling Stone) said, “Obviously, we are very pleased with today’s order and appreciate the court’s careful consideration of the issues.”

    What was the case about?

The lawsuit was filed in 2024 by musicians Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar, who claimed that Cardi B’s song Enough copied elements from their track Greasy Frybread. The two had alleged that their song was originally created for Sten Joddi and later gained attention after being featured in the series Reservation Dogs. They also claimed that the alleged copying had caused them “reputational harm within the music industry and caused them to be blacklisted.”

As per reports, the two musicians received an official copyright registration for the track on October 31 last year, which was nearly a year and a half after the case was first filed.

Another legal win for Cardi B

This marks Cardi B’s second legal victory in recent months. In September last year, a Los Angeles jury found her not guilty in a separate case involving assault and battery allegations brought by her former security guard, Emani Ellis. He had sued the rapper for $24 million, accusing her of assaulting him in 2018. For now, Cardi B appears to have put yet another legal battle behind her.
