Jin joins Coldplay onstage in Seoul for his first concert since military discharge

BTS member Jin made a surprise appearance at Coldplay’s concert in Seoul, and fans couldn’t have been happier. This was Jin’s first time performing on stage after completing his military service in June 2024. Interestingly, his last concert before joining the army was also with Coldplay, back in Argentina in 2022.

Fans captured many beautiful moments from the Seoul concert, and the clips quickly went viral online. Jin stepped onto the stage holding a poster that said, "Pick me please. Can I sing The Astronaut with you?" Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, saw the sign, pointed to Jin, and knelt on stage in front of him. Jin bowed back, and the crowd cheered loudly.

The two then performed The Astronaut and My Universe together, touching hearts with their strong bond. In a sweet moment on stage, Chris asked Jin his name, and he replied, “My team is BTS.” Chris joked, “Oh.. Your team is BTS!” Jin smiled and asked, “BTS, you know?” Chris responded, “OK. I heard of you guys. And we are Coldplay, the second-best band in the world. BTS may be number 1 I think!” Jin laughed and said, “Oh no! I don’t think so.” Chris added, “We missed you, man, you’ve been in the military, but you still look so handsome. Look at this beautiful man.” Jin said, “We performed together 2 years ago. Before I went to the military, the last performance was Coldplay. And my first concert was Coldplay.”

After the concert, Jin shared photos from the night on Instagram with the caption, “Sunny <3.” He also posted a picture of their bowing moment with the words, “Don’t you dare?” Coldplay shared a photo too, writing, “Thank you, Jin, thank you, Seoul. These are moments we will never forget.” Coldplay continues their Music of the Spheres tour in Seoul before heading to the U.S. next.
