Not every song becomes a chart-topping hit, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have that punch. Over the years, Bollywood has had a lot of chatpate tracks that have drama, sass, edge, or just pure masala, but somehow flew under the mainstream radar. These are songs that bring the heat and make you smirk without even realising.

Here’s a list of some underrated, spicy bangers you need to rediscover:

    1. Fifi: This is not your average remix. ‘Fifi’, which is originally the classic Jaata Kahan Hai Deewane, gets a sultry, jazz-club makeover in the movie Bombay Velvet. Sung by Suman Sridhar, the track is filled with sass, retro charm, and that unmistakable noir vibe. It’s seductive, stylish, and underappreciated.

    2. Paani Wala Dance: Let’s be honest, this track is pure pool party masala. From the movie Kuch Kuch Locha Hai featuring Sunny Leone and Ram Kapoor (yes, that combo), this one’s sung by Ikka and Shraddha Pandit, and produced by Arko. It’s flashy, flirty, and completely over the top, and somehow, that's what makes it fun. You’re not dancing to it, you’re surrendering with it.

    3. Ooh La La: Okay, yes, technically this one’s well-known, but we’re including it because of how perfectly it embodies chatpate energy. Sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Bappi Lahiri, with music by Vishal-Shekhar, this is campy, cheeky, over-the-top Bollywood at its finest. Vidya Balan owns every beat with full confidence and a wink. Iconic and spicy, just like a masala dosa with extra chutney.

    4. Babaji Ki Booti: A stoner anthem with surprisingly philosophical vibes, ‘Babaji Ki Booti’ is trippy and weirdly wise, just like the movie Go Goa Gone. Sung by Sachin-Jigar, Amitabh Bhattacharya, and Kunal Khemu, the lyrics alone deserve a standing ovation. It’s spicy in a very different way, and we’re here for it.

    5. Yeh Ek Zindagi: From the movie Monica, O My Darling, this song, sung by Anupama Chakraborty Shrivastava, is a throwback to cabaret numbers. It’s got the bounce and the burlesque-style drama that instantly transports you to dance floors and velvet curtains. It’s sharp, jazzy, and full of flavour.

    6. Bandook Meri Laila: 'Bandook Meri Laila' is not your typical Bollywood track. From the movie A Gentleman, this track has a seductive tone. Composed by Sachin-Jigar, with vocals by Ash King, Jigar Saraiya, and Raftaar, the song blends electro-pop with hip-hop elements that hit hard. And let’s not forget Sidharth Malhotra, who is in full action-hero mode.

    7. Pungi: This song features Saif Ali Khan, who appears like a complete goofball in a spy thriller. From the movie Agent Vinod, this track is sung by Mika Singh and composed by Pritam. 'Pungi' is chaotic, catchy, and silly. The lyrics are quirky, the beat is jumpy, and the vibe is extremely unbothered. This track literally says, “Let’s stop making sense and just have fun”.
