Tyla drops a new song for the summer, ‘Is It’

Tyla dropped a new single for the summer, ‘Is It’, on Friday, July 11. The track is produced by Sammy Soso, and its music video is directed by Aerin Moreno. The music video features Tyla, who is throwing us some powerful and hot dance moves. Listen to ‘Is It’ on Gaana.

She also shared a post on Instagram earlier this week, teasing her fans with the chorus of the song, “Is it wrong that I wanna get right/ Wanna get right with you?”

Fans have been showering their love on Tyla’s ‘Is It’. One fan commented, “I honestly think this is one of her best works yet. The amount of growth in her sound over the past couple years has been insane and I really think that this song can push Tyla to the forefront!”, while another fan wrote, “Wow, Tyla owns this video! Her choreography is straight-up hypnotic, the summer vibes are real, and that style, next level! Definitely the summer anthem we needed to get moving!”

The South African star told Billboard that she was “not saying too much” about her new music ahead of her hosting gig at the 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards in June, when she is also the favourite global music star. “You guys are gonna know when you’ll know. And it’s gonna be a vibe. We outside. We’re catching party vibes,” she said at the time, adding that she had “fun” recording 'Everything Goes With Blue' from the Smurfs Movie Soundtrack. “I love The Smurfs. And Rihanna being Smurfette, it’s such a fun Smurf movie. So I’m happy that I’m a part of that one," She said.

“Is It” is Tyla’s second solo single this year. She had released ‘Bliss’, earlier this year has been hitting the charts. She first hinted to her fans about the single at her debut Coachella performance in April, when she also performed the Billboard Global 200 top 10 hit ‘Show Me Love’ along with South African rapper WizTheMC for the first time. Though we still don’t know if both ‘Bliss’ and ‘Is It’ will be featured on her forthcoming sophomore album that she first teased to Billboard in her Women in Music interview earlier this year.

“I’ve changed a lot in a short amount of time because I was kind of forced to with how fast I had to adapt to everything,” she said at the time. “I don’t think it’s going to be the same energy at all, especially with what I’ve started making. It’s different, but also still Tyla.”
