In an exclusive chat with Mirchi Plus, composer Tanishk Bagchi spoke honestly about life, music, heartbreak, and how his latest track Saiyaara changed something deep within him.
“I know I compose well,” Tanishk said with a smile. “But sometimes even good tracks get lost. Saiyaara was different. It went viral without any promotions. That’s something that has never happened before”.

Tanishk also spoke about personal struggles before Saiyaara happened. “Before Saiyaara, I was really sad”, he shared. “I was in deep depression. I felt like I would never find love or passion again. I thought I would always be alone, no matter what I do”.

“But thanks to Mohit sir, and I hate him for this,” he joked. “Because I had made peace with being alone. I had decided to just enjoy life, party, not expect anything. But Saiyaara made me believe in love again”.

Tanishk also addressed the online trolling he has been facing since Saiyaara became a hit. “People on the internet are saying Saiyaara isn’t my composition and that Faheem and Arsalan should get all the credit", he shared. “And I was like, did your uncle come and make the music? Did they design the composition?” He added, “As much as Faheem and Arsalan have contributed, I’ve given just as much. I deserve equal credit because I composed the whole song on my own".

On being asked about the changes he notices around after the track drop, Tanishk said, “Everyone’s calling their exes after watching Saiyaara", he laughed. “They’re asking for forgiveness. That’s the kind of effect this track has had”.

“It was always my dream to see an Indian song with Indian singers and musicians on global charts. We worked really hard on this. And now, seeing it being loved not just in India but all over the world… that’s true success”.

He also spoke about working with artists like Faheem Abdullah and his close bond with Arijit Singh. Check out the full interview below:

Saiyaara, sung by Faheem Abdullah with lyrics by Irshad Kamil, has already been trending on charts ever since it dropped. It's full of emotion and honesty, and that's what makes a fan favourite.

Talking about the movie, Saiyaara has already crossed ₹300 crore at the box office, and that too, without any massive marketing campaign. Lead actors Ahaan and Aneet stayed under the radar until the film actually hit theatres. This low-key approach was intentional, Suri shared, and it came after conversations with Widhani and YRF head Aditya Chopra.
