Palak Muchhal has been one of the most loved voices in Bollywood when it comes to soft, romantic songs, but her journey has always been about much more than music. She began singing at a very young age and even performed with her brother to raise money for the families of deceased soldiers. Over the years, she not only made her space in playback singing with films like Damadamm!, but also continued her social work, helping raise funds for children suffering from heart problems.

Honoured with the Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, and recognised in the Guinness Book of World Records and Limca Book of World Records for her charity work, Palak has built a career marked by both talent and compassion. On her birthday, here’s a look at some of her most loved romantic hits.

    Kaun Tujhe

Kaun Tujhe from M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story is probably one of those songs that hit people right in the feels the moment it dropped in 2016. Composed by Amaal Mallik and written by Manoj Muntashir, it had this quiet, gentle quality that made it hard to forget.

    Chahun Main Ya Naa

Chahun Main Ya Naa, sung by Palak Muchhal alongside Arijit Singh, was everywhere, and for good reason. With music by Jeet Gannguli and lyrics by Irshad Kamil, it captured that whole "head over heels" feeling in the most effortless way.

    Teri Meri Kahaani

From Gabbar Is Back, Teri Meri Kahaani brought a softer side to the film's album. Palak sang this one with Arijit Singh, and even with Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan on screen, it was the melody that really stayed with people. Composed by Chirantan Bhatt, with lyrics by Manoj Yadav.

    Hua Hain Aaj Pehli Baar

This one from Sanam Re just had a lightness to it. Sung with Armaan Malik and composed by Amaal Mallik, Hua Hain Aaj Pehli Baar felt like the beginning of something sweet, exactly what a falling-in-love song should feel like. It found its way onto a lot of playlists in 2016 and honestly never really left.

    Sanam Teri Kasam

The title track from Sanam Teri Kasam is one of Palak's more intense romantic numbers. Sung with Ankit Tiwari and set to music by Himesh Reshammiya, the song matched the film's emotional weight perfectly. It's the kind of track that lingers long after the film ends.

    Dekha Hazaro Dafaa

From Rustom, Dekha Hazaro Dafaa had that classic Bollywood romance feel, warm, unhurried, and easy to love. Featuring Akshay Kumar and Ileana D'Cruz, the song let Palak's voice do most of the heavy lifting, and it worked beautifully.

    Meri Aashiqui

Back to Aashiqui 2 for this one. Meri Aashiqui, again with Arijit Singh, carried the same emotional pull that made the whole album so special. Years on, it still shows up on romantic playlists, which says everything about how well it has held up.
