Lola Young opens up about drug recovery months after collapsing on stage

Singer Lola Young has shared an update on her health months after she collapsed on stage during a performance at the All Things Go Music Festival in New York. The incident took place in September, when the singer was performing her song Conceited. Videos from the event quickly went viral on social media, showing Lola appearing unsteady before stumbling backwards on stage. The performance had to be stopped midway as members of her team rushed to help her.

At the time, Lola Young later reassured fans on social media that she was “doing okay.” However, she had to postpone her scheduled performance at the All Things Go festival in Columbia, Maryland, which was set to take place the following day.

Now, in a new interview with The Sunday Times, Lola has opened up about where she currently stands in her recovery journey. While she chose not to go into full detail about her health, the singer admitted that she is still healing and taking things one step at a time.

“I would rather, for the sake of my privacy, not say too much. But what I would say is that recovery is an ongoing process. I'm not the finished article, but I'm doing a hell of a lot better." During the same conversation, Lola also clarified that her recovery is related to substance use.

“When you're in recovery… that doesn't necessarily need to mean drugs,” she said, before adding, “But me specifically, yes." Her latest comments come after reports suggested that the singer had been dealing with personal health struggles even before the on-stage incident.

According to a previous report by The New York Times, Lola had reportedly entered a treatment facility for five weeks in November 2024, shortly before the making of her latest album, I’m Only Fking Myself**, which was released in September. The reported treatment was said to be connected to her dependence on cocaine.
