Rock royalty gathered under one roof at London’s O2 Arena on Friday night for an electrifying concert that turned into an emotional tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne. During a sold-out show, Alice Cooper paused mid-set to honour the iconic Black Sabbath frontman, who passed away on July 22 following years of health struggles, including a battle with Parkinson’s disease.

“Even though everybody saw it coming with Ozzy, it just took our breath away when it happened,” Cooper said during the tribute, as quoted by DailyMail. “The whole world was mourning Ozzy Osbourne’s demise.”

A surprise appearance by Johnny Depp

Adding to the night’s poignancy was a surprise appearance by Johnny Depp. The 62-year-old actor and musician, who shares the stage with Cooper as part of their supergroup Hollywood Vampires, walked onstage mid-performance, guitar in hand, to join the tribute. Johnny Depp then launched into a powerful rendition of Black Sabbath’s Paranoid, leaving the crowd both stunned and moved.

A night of music, memory, and milestones

The tribute came on a milestone evening for Cooper himself, as he was also celebrating the release of The Revenge of Alice Cooper, his first album with the original Alice Cooper band since 1973’s Muscle of Love. After honouring Osbourne, Cooper was joined on stage by original bandmates Dennis Dunaway, Neal Smith, and Michael Bruce to perform their iconic hit School’s Out, with Depp staying on to play alongside them.

    More tributes across the UK

The love for Osbourne was echoed elsewhere in London. At Wembley Stadium, brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher reunited as Oasis and paid tribute to the Prince of Darkness during their headline show. According to DailyMail, the band dedicated Rock ‘n’ Roll Star to Osbourne, performing in front of a massive screen displaying his image.

    Ozzy Osbourne's demise

Ozzy Osbourne, iconic lead singer of Black Sabbath and reality TV personality, has died at the age of 76. His family confirmed the news on Tuesday in a statement. “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the statement read. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family's privacy at this time.” The cause of death has not been shared publicly.

His death comes just weeks after Ozzy’s emotional final performance in Birmingham, England, where he reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, and Tony Iommi for a special event titled Back to the Beginning. It marked Black Sabbath’s first show together in 20 years and was billed as Osbourne’s “final bow.”
