Jennifer Lopez appears to be turning heartbreak into healing through her music. At an intimate listening session in Los Angeles on July 2, the global pop icon debuted a deeply emotional new ballad titled Wreckage of You, a track that seems to reflect on her recent separation from actor Ben Affleck candidly.

Held in a low-key setting with just 30 fans in attendance, the event offered an unusually personal window into Lopez’s current emotional journey. As reported by People, the stripped-down session was intentionally designed to foster a closer connection between the singer and her audience. Fan Edgardo Luis Rivera, who attended the gathering, told Us Weekly that Lopez had written and recorded the song just two weeks prior. The inspiration, she revealed, struck late at night after a long day of tour rehearsals.

“She said 'Wreckage of You' is about finding strength after going through something heartbreaking,” Rivera recalled. “She told us it came to her during a vulnerable moment.”

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, who married in 2022 after rekindling their early-2000s romance, reportedly filed for divorce in August 2024 just ahead of what would have been their second wedding anniversary. Around the same time, Lopez made the difficult decision to cancel her planned tour, citing the importance of focusing on her mental and emotional well-being.

In a recent interview with Interview Magazine, Lopez reflected openly on the emotional toll of the past year. “It almost took me out for good,” she admitted. “But now, on the other side of it, I think, ‘That’s exactly what I needed.’” She added, “God had to hit me with a sledgehammer. I get it now. No need to do it again.”

Alongside the premiere of Wreckage of You, Jennifer Lopez also treated fans to a setlist of favourites, including Up All Night, Regular, Free, Save Me Tonight, and Birthday.
