    Chuck Mangione, the beloved jazz musician known around the world for his smooth melodies and the timeless hit ‘Feels So Good’, has passed away at the age of 84. His attorney, Peter S. Matorin, confirmed the news and shared that he died of natural causes during his sleep at his home in Rochester, New York. Although Chuck Mangione had been retired from music since 2015, his music is still loved by generations to this day.

    As the news broke, people started paying tributes to the singer on the internet. One fan on X wrote, “Saddened to hear we just lost an all-time legend, true icon of the culture & American hero all the way from Rochester NY to Arlen TX. RIP Chuck Mangione”. Another fan wrote, “Sad to hear Chuck Mangione passed. He was a great musician”.

    Who was Chuck Mangione?

    Chuck Mangione was a famous flugelhorn and trumpet player whose career spanned over six decades. Born in Rochester, New York, he began his journey in jazz as a teenager, forming The Jazz Brothers with his pianist brother, Gap Mangione.

    He rose to fame in 1978 with ‘Feels So Good’, a breezy instrumental that earned a Grammy nomination for Record of the Year. Then he won his first Grammy in 1977 for ‘Bellavia’, a piece dedicated to his mother. He won another Grammy in 1979 for ‘The Children of Sanchez’.

    His music reached even wider audiences when he composed and performed ‘Give It All You Got’ for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. In his later years, Mangione became popular with a new generation when he appeared as an animated version of himself on the hit show King of the Hill. On the show, he was the face of a made-up store called “Mega-lo-Mart”. Fans still remember his funny catchphrase from the show, “Shopping feels so good".

    Chuck Mangione was inducted into the Rochester Music Hall of Fame in 2012, an honour that recognized not just his global achievements but the love he always had for his hometown.
