Sharing the heartbreaking update, she wrote, “We are heartbroken to share the passing of our beloved father and husband Darrell ‘Dash’ George Crofts, who passed away March 25, 2026 at the age of 87 surrounded by the love and prayers of his devoted wife and children.”
The family’s statement further read, “With sorrow and gratitude, we mourn a man whose loving-kindness, remarkable compassion, beautiful and tender voice has uplifted hearts across the globe. We extend our gratitude and appreciation for the outpouring of love and support that we have received from around the world and we celebrate an honor his legacy of service to mankind.”
Born Darrell George “Dash” Crofts in Texas, the singer and musician formed Seals & Crofts in 1969 with Jim Seals, after the two had earlier performed together in the band The Champs. That same year, the duo signed with Warner Bros. Records and released their debut album.

The pair found major success in 1972 with their fourth album, Summer Breeze, which featured the now-classic title track. The song, led by Crofts’ vocals, became one of their most recognised hits. According to Billboard, Summer Breeze reached double platinum status and peaked at No. 6 on the Hot 100. They followed it up with Diamond Girl, another successful album that went gold and delivered another hit single of the same name.
After releasing The Longest Road in 1980, Seals & Crofts went their separate ways. The duo later reunited and released what would become their final album together, Traces, in 2004.
