12 Songs where touch tells the love story
Humans are simple beings, really. The reason why physical touch is the most widely adopted love language is that humans were made for it. Science tells us that touch can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, and boost the immune system. It is required for our healthy development and emotional well-being. It is said that we need 8 hugs per day for survival and 12 hugs for success. If that is the case, I want my 12 hugs per day and much more.

Read below a list of songs about physical touch, both innocent and intimate:

I am feeling a little bold today, so topping this list we have ‘I Kissed A Girl’ by the iconic Katy Perry. The song encourages the exploration of sexual identity, making it one of the greatest hits among allies of the community. Causing quite the scandal, we have the lyrics, “I kissed a girl and I liked it / The taste of her cherry chapstick / I kissed a girl just to try it / I hope my boyfriend don’t mind it”. It is a song rich in beat and drums, and Katy Perry always kills with her voice.

Selena Gomez is the perfect fit when it comes to songs of this genre. Her song ‘Hands To Myself’ has a vocal variety that is unmatched. She exudes a sensual quality with her voice, and the music is beautifully composed with appropriate beat drops that keep you on your toes waiting for what’s next. “Can’t keep my hands to myself / I mean, I could but why would I want to?”

Selena’s bestfriend Taylor Swift is no less. ‘Dress’ is a song with extremely strong erotic vocals that almost seem explicit but capture the mood so perfectly. “I don’t want you like a best friend / Only bought this dress so you could take it off” - is a lyric so perfectly descriptive of the inner dilemma between the urge to be more than friends and holding back from all your aggressive desires.

A former 1D member has a hit song. Liam Payne’s ‘Strip That Down’ is another one for that raw yet intimate physical touch. The name in itself is suggestive and has an audacious choice of lyrics. Another one from Liam is ‘Bedroom Floor’. These songs were quite the switch from the singer’s usual discography. The only way you’ll know their essence is if you listen to them. I won’t say anything more. If this fits your current vibe, go check these songs out now.

Moving on to a few niche artists, we have Cloudy June with her song ‘if jesus saw what we did last night’ that will leave you with your jaw on the floor, and appropriately so. This song will surprise you with its lyrics in the best way possible - “If Jesus saw what we did last night / He’d wanna be mine”.

Kiss Goodbye All Night’ by Drake Milligan is a mix of a hopeless romantic and an upbeat country music vibe. “Let’s kiss goodbye all night / And kiss a little more in the mornin’ / Put your sweet lips on mine / Don’t let our red, hot hearts stop burnin’ ” - is my favorite lyric to sing along to.

Hindi songs are no less when it comes to this category. When we talk about words of affirmation or quality time, this language has such soft, innocent, and heartfelt songs. Little did we know that there’s a raunchy side to it. ‘Zara Zara Touch Me’ is the first song that comes to mind when we say physical touch. On lead vocals, we have Monali Thakur, Earl Edgar, and Pritam. This song, for those who are eccentric enough, is the peak of Bollywood. It is a song everyone knows and enjoys listening to, not that everyone would agree to that openly, but I would.

It would be illegal not to include ‘Hoth Rasiley’. Shreya Ghoshal, Shankar Mahadevan, Anand Raj Anand, and Ibrahim Ashq have wonderfully created this masterpiece of a song. It is the best song to let go of all your inhibitions and dance to at a party. A song you can shimmy to or silently vibe to. If you’ve made it so far down the list, these lyrics are meant for you - “Honth raseele, tere honth raseele / Dil kehtha hai mera ye ras pee le”

Ang Laga De’ by Aditi Paul is a song that will make you go ‘oomph’. The beats, the music, the vocals, the lyrics, no song beats this one in any aspect. It is a semi-classical song with lyrics best listened to when you’re in the mood - “Ang Laga De Re / Mohey Rang Laga De Re”. It embodies the art of seduction. I cannot emphasise enough how much you need to listen to this song if a sultry aura is what you’re looking for.

Giving it a rest, a song that is more restrained in its lyrics is ‘Choo Lo’ by The Local Train. Every time I listen to this song, I just want to scream the lyrics out loud. It makes you feel deeply the yearning of love and the wait and longing for someone’s touch. “Yeh kaisi dil ki pyaas hain? / Chhoo lo jo mujhe tum kabhi / Kho na jaau main raat-din”. This song is one of my personal favourites from this band and is extremely underrated.

The song I have been waiting to recommend for so long is finally here! ‘Pee Loon’ by Pritam, Irshad Kamil, and Mohit Chauhan will make you snap in tune with the song. It so subtly hints at physical touch that it almost teases you. “Pee loon tere neele-neele nainon se shabnam / Pee loon tere geele-geele honthon ki sargam / Pee loon, hain peene ka mausam”. I will leave the interpretation up to you, but I assure you, you’ll find yourself humming it all the time.

I had to save the best for last. Kishore Kumar’s ‘Chhu Kar Mere Mann Ko’ is a classic. You just cannot ignore this one. Very unlike the rest of the songs on this list, it has a refreshing, innocent quality. It spoke about how physical touch is necessary for our emotional well-being, and this song talks about just that feeling when it says - ‘Chhu kar, mere mann ko, kiya tune, kya ishaara / Badla yeh mausam lage pyaara jag sara’.
