‘Pretty Little Baby’ singer Connie Francis passed away at 87

American singer and actor Connie Francis has passed away at the age of 87, just weeks after being hospitalised. As of now, the exact cause of her death has not been disclosed.

The news was shared on Thursday, July 17, by her close friend Ron Roberts, who also heads her music label, Concetta Records. In a heartfelt post on Facebook, Ron wrote, “It is with a heavy heart and extreme sadness that I inform you of the passing of my dear friend Connie Francis last night”. "I know that Connie would approve that her fans are among the first to learn of this sad news", he continued.

Connie had been in the hospital since early July after experiencing intense pain. She shared an update on social media with a message, “I am back in hospital where I have been undergoing tests and checks to determine the cause(s) of the extreme pain I have been experiencing". Due to which she had to cancel her appearance on a special Independence Day radio show with Cousin Brucie.

On July 4, she had posted that she was feeling better, but she remained under medical supervision. Just a couple of months earlier, in May, she had revealed that she was recovering from hip surgery and was using a wheelchair.

The song has racked up over 10 billion views and reached No. 1 on TikTok’s Viral 50 and Top 50 charts. Connie, who didn’t remember recording the track, joined TikTok to thank fans, saying, “It’s thrilling that kindergarten kids know my name". Connie Francis was the first woman to top the Billboard Hot 100 with Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool in 1960. She has sold over 200 million records worldwide, with iconic hits like Stupid Cupid and Where the Boys Are.
