    Netflix’s new music reality show Building the Band has paid a heartfelt tribute to late singer Liam Payne, marking the last project he worked on before his passing. In the opening scenes of the series, host AJ McLean says, “When we came together to film Building the Band, we never imagined we'd soon be saying goodbye to our friend Liam Payne. He appears in later episodes as a guest judge, and his love for music and passion for helping others shine through. This show is dedicated to Liam and his family.”

    Liam Payne who is widely known worldwide as a member of One Direction, tragically passed away in October last year at the age of 31. He died after a fall from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Following the news, his former bandmates, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, and Louis Tomlinson shared a touching statement, “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing… The memories we shared will be treasured forever.”

    Building the Band brings together talented singers who compete to form a music group, without meeting each other beforehand. The contestants are mentored by Nicole Scherzinger, with guest judges Kelly Rowland and Liam Payne joining in later episodes.

    Liam’s family has supported the show and his appearance in it. His sister Nicola shared on Instagram: “I couldn’t be prouder of this show. Watching it has helped us feel close to Liam again. He truly was a shining star.” His other sister, Ruth, added, “It breaks my heart that he never got to see how amazing he is in this show. Watching it filled me with pride. Liam, you always were and always will be a star.” Building the Band is now streaming on Netflix, celebrating Liam Payne’s lasting legacy in music.
