i-dle creates history at the 34th Seoul Music Awards as K-pop stars shine bright

The 34th Seoul Music Awards lit up the Inspire Arena in Incheon, South Korea, bringing together some of the biggest names in K-pop. This year’s standout moment belonged to (G)I-DLE, who made history by winning their first-ever Daesang (Grand Prize). With this win, they became the first female act to take home a Daesang at the SMAs since Girls’ Generation in 2010.

The celebration didn’t stop there for (G)I-DLE, as they also picked up a Bonsang (Main Award), sharing the honour with a lineup of star-studded acts including aespa, Stray Kids, SEVENTEEN, ENHYPEN, NCT DREAM, ILLIT, Rosé from BLACKPINK, and G-Dragon, among others.

TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) also had a remarkable evening, bagging three major awards: Best Song for their 2024 hit Deja Vu, Best Album, and a Bonsang. BLACKPINK’s Rosé and aespa were named World Best Artists, further cementing their global reach.

BTS members were not left behind. RM took home the R&B/Hip Hop Award, while Jimin was recognised with the Korean Wave Award for his global popularity. Other big wins included Rookie of the Year for Hearts2Hearts, KickFlip, and KiiiKiii, highlighting the exciting new talent in the industry.
