About Divine
Divine, whose real name is Vivian Wilson Fernandes, is one of India’s most popular rappers today. He began his journey in 2011 as an underground artist and slowly made a name for himself with honest, deep lyrics and raw storytelling. Growing up in the chawls of Mumbai, Divine often rapped about the world around him, life on the streets, everyday struggles, and the dreams of making it big. His music reflects his early days and what he has been through, which is why so many people connect with it.
He rose to fame in 2013 with his track ‘Yeh Mera Bombay’, but it was ‘Mere Gully Mein’ with rapper Naezy that made him popular. Learning about him, Zoya Akhtar made the movie ‘Gully Boy’ which was highly inspired by Divine and Naezy’s journey. Some of Divine's popular tracks include ‘Chal Bombay’, ‘Baazigar’, ‘Mirchi’, and ‘Kaam 25’.
