Coldplay teams up with BLACKPINK’s Rosé for surprise performance in South Korea
Mirchi • Published on Apr 24, 2025 | 11:00 AM IST Coldplay’s ongoing tour of South Korea is turning into a celebration of global music, with unexpected moments that fans will be talking about for years. After inviting K-pop girl group TWICE onstage for a special remix of “We Pray” last week, the British rock legends pulled off another surprise—this time in Goyang with
BLACKPINK’s Rosé.
The crowd erupted when
Rosé joined the band for a live rendition of her solo track “APT,” originally released in October 2024 as a collaboration with
Bruno Mars. The song appears on her long-awaited debut album
Rosie, which dropped in December. The stage, showered in pink confetti, set the perfect backdrop for the emotional performance. But it didn’t end there.
Coldplay frontman
Chris Martin was so moved that he asked for an instant encore. “Rosé, let’s do it again!” he shouted, as the audience cheered wildly.
Rosé’s solo debut has been a slow burn. Before Rosie, she had only released two singles, “On the Ground” and “Gone” both in 2021. When teasing the album last year, she described it as a “little journal” filled with raw emotion, saying she poured her “blood and tears” into its creation.
Released in October 2024, “APT” marked a significant milestone in Rosé’s solo journey. Dropping at a time when
BLACKPINK was on a break from group activities, the track served as a powerful reintroduction to her individual artistry. Featured on her debut album Rosie, the song quickly became a breakout hit, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and holding the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Global 200 for an impressive 12 consecutive weeks.
