BTS made a much-awaited return to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and the appearance turned into a memorable one for both fans and the host. The global K-pop group appeared on the show to promote their fifth studio album, ARIRANG, where they not only delivered powerful performances but also sat down for a candid interview. Their comeback to the show marked their first international appearance and their first time on The Tonight Show together in four years.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Jimmy Fallon shared just how special it felt to have all seven members back together on his show after so long. “BTS have been part of The Tonight Show family for years, but last night’s show felt unlike any other. They always go above and beyond, I mean… taking over the Guggenheim with two knockout performances. It was amazing to witness.”

Fallon also had nothing but praise for the group, saying they continue to raise the bar with every performance. He also gave a warm shoutout to ARMY, BTS’ loyal fanbase. “I have so much love and respect for all of them. And of course, they have the greatest fans in the world. Without the ARMY, it wouldn’t feel complete,” he said.

The first episode of BTS’ Tonight Show appearance aired on March 26 and featured an interview segment, along with a performance of their lead single SWIM by RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.

BTS talks about reuniting after military service During the interview, BTS opened up about what it has been like coming back together as a group after spending time apart due to their military service. The members appeared emotional and happy as they returned to the show’s stage after nearly four years, with fans in the audience cheering them on.

Reflecting on that phase of life, RM said, “In military, like literally, time stops. Right? Like, time stops. And after it, time just flows by. We just can’t believe that it’s been like nine months that we all have discharged.”
