Beyoncé used this tour to spotlight the role of Black artists in country music, something that’s often overlooked. Many of the artists she highlighted are also featured on her Cowboy Carter album. Despite growing up in Texas, Beyoncé has spoken about feeling unwelcome in the country music world. She made history at the 2025 Grammy Awards as the first Black woman to win Best Country Album. Back in 2016, her performance at the Country Music Association Awards sparked controversy, with some people online criticizing her for not being “country enough".
